Sustainability verifiable, without empty promises.
Chao EcoLine is an internal seal that identifies products in our catalogue with specific sustainable criteria: material certification, packaging, processing and regulatory compliance. Four requirements. No vague labels.
Inclusion criteria
Certified materials
Wood with FSC or PEFC certification, or biodegradable materials (technical cardboard, pressed plant fibres).
Reduced packaging
Reusable or minimally functional packaging. We eliminate non-essential plastics in transport.
Low VOC processing
Varnishes and finishes with low volatile organic compound emissions. Better air quality in the room.
Regulatory compliance
Explicit compliance with current Spanish incineration requirements and material limitations.
Current EcoLine catalogue
5 references currently marked. The list expands as we homologate new lines with the above criteria.
How to communicate sustainability without greenwashing
Three principles for funeral home directors who want to offer sustainable options to families without resorting to empty marketing.
- 01
Be specific, not abstract.
«FSC-certified wood from northern Spain» communicates better than «sustainable». Cite certifications, not adjectives.
- 02
Quantify when possible.
«25% less plastic packaging» or «VOC emissions below X g/L» are verifiable. «Eco-friendly» is not.
- 03
Distinguish product and service.
An EcoLine coffin does not make the funeral home sustainable. Communicate it as a catalogue option, not as a brand identity.
